JEE Mains

The JEE Mains exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and serves as the gateway for admission to various engineering institutes, including NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions. It is also the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the prestigious IITs

  • The exam is computer-based, featuring a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions.
  • Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, with a penalty of -1 mark for incorrect MCQs.

JEE Mains is conducted twice a year, generally in January and April, allowing students the opportunity to improve their scores. This flexibility is beneficial for students aiming to perform at their best in the highly competitive examination.

JEE Advanced

To be eligible for JEE Advanced, students must first qualify in JEE Mains and rank among the top scorers. The exam consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and is conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) format.

  •  It includes a mix of question types, such as single correct answer questions, multiple correct answer questions, and numerical-type questions.
  • The marking scheme varies each year, with different positive and negative marking schemes applied across sections.

Like JEE Mains, JEE Advanced is conducted twice a year, usually in January and April, giving students an opportunity to improve their scores. The exam is known for its high difficulty level, featuring challenging questions that test not only theoretical knowledge but also the application of concepts in complex scenarios.
